Science; Friend or Foe?

Controversial POV:

Not everything needs to be backed by evidence 👀

Hear me out ✋ As a Nutritionist I follow the scientific evidence and I base much of my advice around it.

BUT.

Science gets things wrong. The very definition of science aims to disprove, and continually updates upon finding new evidence (therefore disproving the old theory). And not forgetting a biggie, science can be distorted (and has been historically #waronfat)

Some things cannot (or will never*) be explained by science. At some point we have to learn to trust our own internal intuition. ESPECIALLY with nutrition, which I believe is both an art and a science.

We have an innate wisdom that many of us have lost insight to. It's in there, but you've got to start listening to it. That gut feeling? It's a very real thing.

What I'm saying is science is AMAZING, but so is our intuition. View the science with an open mind, but don't instantly take it as gospel. You know yourself better than any lab rat ever will.

*I say will never because some things aren't worth researching because the results do not make money and therefore don't make a profit for whoever is funding said research (we know McDonalds, Pepsi and the like are slowly killing the human population, but who is going to fund the research to prove that?) 🙃

No idea where to start? If you've lost your way with your intuition, I can help! I have open spots on my 1:1 nutrition coaching programmes, get in touch to find out more 😙
