1 in 4 adults experience mental health issues each year.
These rates are disproportionately higher in those working in the hospitality industry; approximately 59% of those in the industry report a current mental health problem, while a survey by Nestle found 8 in 10 chefs have experienced poor mental health during their careers - this isn't right or fair. It's also a topic that is still taboo in this industry and isn't spoken about enough.
A growing body of research is finding links between the quality of our diets and the state of our mental health - if this link can be demonstrated in chefs then it opens up opportunities for new treatment and prevention strategies for mental health disorders.
This is a topic close to my heart and I really want to help make a difference to mental health support in the hospitality industry. If you are a chef, please take 20 minutes of your time to fill in the survey. If you're not, please help by sharing this post on your social media channels and with friends and family.
